Have any of you or your spousees ended up also being dx along with your kids?
Part of the reason that DH and I have just "dealt with" our DS Garrett (he's 7) for so long is that we are already used to dealing with a high-maintenance person - DH.

A few years ago, when I was reseaching all of this special needs stuff I became aware that I fit the criteria for ADHD to a T, So I got myself evaluated, was diagnosed and for awhile I went on ADHD meds. It helped me to know. I became much more accepting of myself.
But I think a lot depends on the person.
I know there are some parents and spouses here on this board who are in various stages of DX for AS, ADHD or other stuff. Some are formally DXed, some accept that they have "quirks" or probably a full-out DX but have not sought a formal DX and

I don't know that DH would go ahead with a formal evaluation...if he does, I would support it completely, but I understand if he doesn't. We had a very revelatory conversation about 6 months ago when DH explained to me as best he could some of his issues with time, organization, planning, etc. It has been a source of tension between us for years because the man literally cannot keep up with what day of the week it is, what is supposed to happen next Tuesday, or what plans we've made for an upcoming trip.
