Any Volunteers???

Okay now...don't everybody raise their hands all at once, okay???

Claire just got her "Flat Stanley" assignment...any guesses where this is going???

I would love it somebody with an older child, perhaps one who remembers doing the same project, would be willing to have Flat Stanley come for a visit. I promise to send a pre-paid return envelope.

I'd ask a family member, but all of my family members (except one) live in Illinois. And I also thought it might be neat if Flat Stanley could meet another child with an ASD? Maybe helping her first grade class understand that there are kids like Claire all over the country???

If you're interested in helping me out, drop me a note at:

Thank You!

Oh OH OH, I don't know what the flat stanley assignment is but I am game. I am sure Cait would LOVE to help out, so would emily and I probably can convince Mike once he sees the other kids do it.

What is involved?

In case you're not familiar with the book, here's the basic story~

Flat Stanley is actually a series of children's books where the main character, Stanley, gets flattened, stuffed in an envelope, and mailed off on vacations.

So the assignment consists of Claire mailing her "Flat Stanley" to somebody who shows Stanley what life is like where they live. Sometimes the host(s) includes pictures of them with Flat Stanley, etc. Essentially, it's a social studies activity.

As an example, last year Emma sent her Flat Stanley to Colorado. The host told all about taking Stanley snowboarding, about the size of her school, what's fun to do in their town, etc. She even made a paper snowboard and mailed it back with Stanley.

Make sense? If you're still willing, I'll put Stanley in the mail tomorrow! ROFLMBO

It will give me an excuse to take them to the beach. Flat stanley can see both oceans! Oh oh oh, he can come with us to Cait's horse show too. Maybe even karate. I will make sure Stanley doesn't end up in the guinea pig cages. they like to eat paper (oh NOOOOOOOOOOOO)

I heard Billy Joel put his house up for sale on Centre island. Maybe he is having an Open House we can go look at.

I send a picture of the Montauk Light house. Can Flat Stanley get drunk? Send a bottle of Pindar wine?

Sorry it has been a long day.

I LOVE YOU GUYS! YOU'RE THE BESTEST!

Um...but try not to get him drunk, okay? I'm afraid the 1st grade teachers might be offended by that. ROFLMBO

We could show Flat Stanley the Grand Canyon! **waves hands**

Our homeschooling group does Flat Stanleys every year and post the pics and stories on the website. Great fun!

I'll email you.

We'd be happy to help with Flat Stanley too. But I'm guessing Flat Stanley has already seen enough corn since he's living in Illinois and Iowa isn't too far off.

Does Flat Stanley want to come to Miami? Hopefully, there will be no hurricanes during his stay! I'll be happy to take him to South Beach, I promise we'll keep it clean and wholesome!

Email me and I'll send you my address. Eric is only 4, but he'd love something like this. He's very interested in maps and geography already, I think it's due to his Little Einstein's obsession!

Great school project!

We could show Flat Stanley the nation's capital, but we won't be able to get into Wash DC proper (we're in MD) for a few weeks. Would that be too long? When does the assignment need to be returned?
