Here is to thanking that you are all okay. My Dh has family out there too and they are all okay.
I gues no one place will be ever perfect. Here on Long Island we are forever being that this will be the year that a big Hurricane will hit and that is why the insurance companies won't sell flod insurance and are trying to not sell home owners insurance in this area.
One sort of silly thing about all of this. DH and I have watched the movie The Day after Tomorrow.. Where they talk about the next big Ice Age occuring with in a matter of days. There is a scene where the ocean floods out Manhattan and almost drowns the Statue of Liberty. After that movie ended and all and I had time to process it. I turned to my husband and said i guess in that movie we all drowned. Because if the floods did all that damage to Manhattan, Long Island will certainlly be under water. Fortunatelty, Josh has seen this ovie several times on video and never made that connection.

I was watching, horrified. I checked to see if your town was in the danger zone.

I hope she is ok. Has she given a recent update ?
Everyone,
you are all in our thoughts, hearts and prayers. Stay safe,
Sara
I just posted an update on APOV. At least a quickie. Between the Rice fire and the local reports of the pumacha (sp?) fire, it was getting nervewracking. I heard they were up to mandatory evacs at lawrence welk resort with is 4 miles as the crow flies with nothing but brush in between. There were some reports of fire near that area as well but I think that was a mistake.
It seems now the bigger fires are moving in the other direction which is scary for those folks that way but we are safe here.
I am thinking of your DH. Give him a big hug of thanks from all of us here in SD. It not for the amazingly hard work of all those guys the whole county would be toast. I do really appreciate what he is doing. My dad was a fire fighter and I have the utmost respect for those guys.
Stay safe tonight rbear !!!! I have been worried about your location.
saying a prayer for your DH and that he is able to get home. I have heard the best way to go is South 5 to 78 and then up 15.
YOu posted this last night so hopefully he is home by now. If not I have heard they re-openned 5 south (not north) and the 15. Don't take the 76, it is closed.
Thanks for the update. I did OT on base last year at both of the schools and am very familiar with the area as I have driven from one side of the base to the other many times. I know many families in the areas that were evacuated. That one fire toward the north is near one of the schools.
Keep us updated. I see Bonsall was evacuated last night but we have clearer skies today than yesterday and we are starting to be able to let down our guard a bit. I may even go to the movies today. I have GOT to get the kids out of the house.
We have been told to cut back on electricity and the kids can't go outside. Needless to say, Mike is starting to get a bit buggy. Electronics have been our only saving grace, now that one last change will about throw him into oblivion.

Still keeping you all in our thoughts and prayers. the San Diego office of the company DH works for has been evacuated. He's concerned about several of the people he knows and works with, but he's heard from several of them. A special thanks to all the fire fighters!
Betsy, thank you for your thoughts. Still doing ok but very smokey. One of the last fires is up in this area and a couple new ones sparked. I don't think they will get here but it is definitely increasing the smoke factor.
CCmommy - how is your Aspie handling all this stress? Cait is doing fine as she is one of those clueless/easy going type autistics but Mike is stress mania. He is making me nuts.
