Just a thought that came to mind today...I know if jaundice goes untreated (in certain situations) it can cause brain damage? My twins both had to have jaundice treatment about 4 days after birth..just curious if anyone else with autism/pdd dx had the same situation? I know it's common but you know, always looking for answers (or possiblilies)!

Bobby did but it never got bad enough for them to do the therapy.

My NT DS had mild jaundice (just had to strip him down and set him in front of sunny windows for a few days, nothing serious); my PDD-NOS DD never had jaundice...

Hey, Keri,

My son w/ autism was just a little jaundiced but not enough for treatment. He did however have trauma at birth. His cord was wrapped around his neck 3x and he was pretty blue when he was born. He was wisked away immediately after delivery and I didn't actually see him for hours as they had him on oxygen and off in the nursery.

My #1 and #4 children had jaundice enough for treatment. Martha, #4, had her blood checked every day for 18 days after delivery and she was treated w/ the bili lights and wrap at several of those checks, her count went up to 24 and stayed there for a couple of days. But she's pretty NT! she has some learning differences but she's definitely not on the spectrum. #1 son has an ADD Dx but he really fits most of the AS criteria and sometimes seems quite autistic, but never when someone is evaluating him.

Cait had mild jaundice or in other words stick her in front of the windows nakie for a few days. None of the others did.

BTW, I found out later that if they have a good black poo soon after birth they usually don't get jaundice. Thought that was interesting.
