OK I was nice this time: I didnt; post an OMG thread or try to fool you (and given the date, you have to admire me for that!).
I was open and upfront.
So please post a little about yourself and the kid or kids who bring you here. Also answer this bonusn question:
What is your Autie/Aspie's current obsession(s)?

LOL
Renee, I am 38 mostly SAHM. I work parttime when the kids are in school and going to school parttime to finish my special ed credential. Married for 15 years to the dad of me kidlets. I have 4 kids, 2 on the spectrum and one who likes to flirt with the edge of it.
Cait is nearly 13, has Aspergers and epilepsy. She loves animals and volunteers at a theraputic horsemanship program and is a big helper/great kid. She was initially delayed so she also has a most recent dx of high functioning autism, but she also has an AS dx and that is the one she knows and what fits her currently. She is in a full inclusion special day class program for kids with AS/HFA and it is no better than a resource specialist program IMHO.
Mike is 11 and autistic, very verbal/high IQ but I shy from using HFA due to many reasons. He is in a special day class, mainstreamed about 2/3rds of his day and has a 1:1 aide. Next year will attend a non-public school for kids with special needs. He gives the bestest hugs in the world now and emails mommy that he loves her! He is great with small children and very kind when he isn't overstimulated.
Emily is 9 and NT though a possible of LD's and some sensory issues. Dave is 7 and SPD (or SID) and ADHD. He also has had a provisional PDD-NOS dx a couple years ago and he likes to flirt with the edge of the dx but I think he has too much perspective taking and social skills to be PDD.
Current obsessions. Cait has only had one obsession, ever. Animals, animals, and more animals. Her first word was dog. Currently this takes the form of drawing animals and her guinea pig. She also can talk your ear off about birthdays and any parties that are coming up.
Mike's vary. Most recently (that I could figure out) he was into this avatar video game we had to return today. He had even put stamps all over his body to look like avatar. Often Mike does this pretendish type play where he is re-enacting his favorite obsession but I can't figure out what they are. He does not want anyone to know so sometimes I don't know what he obsession de jour is. However, his obsessions always revolve around a book, movie or video game character. usually something science fiction or fantasy-ish.

I'm Laurie, married to dh Al for almost 14 years. I live in VA and am a substitute teacher. Our Aspie is Alex, who will be 10 in 3 weeks (yikes, where does the time go?!). He is in a 4th grade regular classroom with an aide most of the time.
Alex's life-long obsession has been cars, cars, and more cars - can tell you any make and model, in what year they were or will be redesigned, car or truck of the year, etc. He also is very much into maps (street maps, primarily) and has a huge collection of those. But lately he's been showing a lot of interest in underwater creatures. So for his 10th birthday we're taking him to the Baltimore Aquarium!

I'm Amy, and I'll turn another-30-something next Friday. :-) We're currently in Illinois but we're hoping to get the heck outta dodge in the next 12-18 mos. because the school system in this state leaves much to be desired. My position was eliminated last June, and as I spent 8+ months trying to find another job, it became evident that our spectrum kiddos (and their school) needed me more than an employer, so I'm back to being a full-time SAHM. I've been married to Marc for almost 14 years. He is a self-admitted undiagnosed Aspie. We have three kids, two on the spectrum.
Noah is 9 and in 3rd grade. His Dx is AS, and he's in a fully mainstreamed classroom with pull-out supports for speech and social skills. Academically, he's "off the charts" and his current, long standing obsession is video games.
Emma will be 8 in a few weeks and she's our NT. I say it all the time, but she is truly amazing. She's kind, loving and handles responsibility far beyond her years. She's the first to volunteer to help someone out and is strong enough to refuse to submit peer pressure. She never complains, never argues- in other words, there's nothing "typical" about our NT.
Claire is 6 and is Autistic. She has co-morbid Dx's of "moderate to severe pragmatic language disorder" and SID. She receives PT, OT, and S/LT at school- and she also spends time with the district's Autism consultant every week. She has a wonderful 1:1 and is, currently, in a mainstream classroom, but I see that changing in the near future. With all of her "issues" she has a few great things going for her...she's adorable, happy and funny, so people are naturally endeared to her, and therefore, much more willing to overlook her behaviors. ;-) Her lifelong obsession is books, but she's recently starting drawing the cover of the books she reads and "assigning" that particular book to an individual in her life. Hard to explain, but fascinating to watch.

I'm Nora 32 from Pittsburgh
My darling ds Adam brings mw here with PDD. I hate his dx cause of the vaugeness of it all. He was dx'd last April, boy one year already?
He will be 4 in July and has done amazing this past year.
He lacks appropriate social skills and speech delays are evident.
We get 3x per week at special ed preschool & gets SP and OT and just started play therepy a few months back. We are adventuring in tumbling and swimming starts this week.
Needless to say I keep him busy.
Currently looking into inhome aide/support again.

I'm Robin, mom to 7-year-old Henry (AS) and 20-month Mark. My dh is Glen. We live in a suburb of Memphis, TN.
Henry's current love is art--either drawing, coloring, and cutting out characters from his favorite tv shows or recreating 100-step, super-complicated art projects that he does at school.
I thought he was finished with pretend school (his previous constant fascination), but lately he has been asking me to play that with him on a regular basis. Often, we start out playing pretend school, then--lo and behold--we have to do a 100-step, super-complicated art project that day. lol.

Betsy here flirting w/ the 40 year mark. I live in South Carolina, formerly from Wisconsin and Illinois, I'm a midwestern girl through and through and feel like a fish-out-of-water here in the south. I've been married to DH, Michael, for 17 1/2 years. We have 5 kiddos. I'm a part time SAHM and part time costumer/seamstress/substitute preschool teacher.
Weston, my middle son and middle child brings me here. His Dx is autism, he's verbal and on the high end of intelligence, but has severe sensory issues and more pragmatic speech difficulties than we had realized. He' experiencing lots of anxiety with school right now and we're trying to figure out what we should do w/ his placement. He's 10 in the 5th grade. Currently in pull out advanced language arts and math classes, homeroom mainstream for science and social studies, pull outs for speech and language, OT and organizational and social skills (tho he's not getting the organizational and social right now). He's been having lots of avoidance seeking and even flight (running away from situations) lately. Having a hard time getting the school district to take it seriously.
I also have Warren (15, a freshman in highschool, ADD-nos w/ tons of aspie characteristics), Amelia (13, NT w/ some learning differences but managing in 7th grade on her own), Martha (7, 2nd grade, currently being tested for LDs esp dyslexia), Owen (5, in preschool, ADHD and SIDs but not ASD).
Weston's current obsession is Star Wars: the movies, the PC game, the legos, his light saber. He's also always been obsessed w/ maps, schedules and time.
I'm Candes (SI) is AZ with DH Craig (AS), and DD's Corina 21 (NT-ish), Ayla 16 (AS), Sammi 14 (ADHD-C), Jade 12 (HFA, TS, SI, MMR, ADHD-I, and more), Eva 7 (AS), Angel 4 (NT, parapeligic), and Hipplady(my mom) 55 (AS, SI, and ZED).
Our oldest, Cori, actually lives on her own and the older two teens only live with us part time. Hippylady is here part time (2 weeks/mo) but will be living with us full time over the summer while we build her a new house.
Jade and Angel are the two that we have the most 'work' with. Jade is much lower functioning than her sisters in the majority of areas and requires a lot more assistance with regular daily issues. Angel's physical disabilities mixed with her age gives us lots to do too. Plus, Angel is fatally alergic to dairy, so there's that to take into consideration. Hippylady has a bad allergy to eggs and a mid alergy to soy as well, so I cook pretty much eveything from scratch.
Obsessions, hmmmm...
Jade and Hippylady are both fine artsists and both obsessed with fairies, so we have a lot of that kind of stuff around the house. If we sold all of the proffesional grade art supplies and equipment we'd have enough to buy a new car in cash, lol. Not going there though (for obvious reasons). Eva is boarderline diabetic, so she's obsessed with finding the perfect sugar substitute, to support he other obsession... ice cream. Can't say DH is obsessed with anything (currently), other than just getting through one more day without stepping on anybody's proverbial toes. Angel has no obsessions, only regular and general likes and dislikes. She digs a lollipop though, and is very picky about the brand (Has to be Jolly Rancher, lol). She buys them with her own money.
Me, I'm mostly just obsessed with making sure my family gets what they need everyday and nobody dies. Well, and then there's Azdia.....
