OK I was nice this time: I didnt; post an OMG thread or try to fool you (and given the date, you have to admire me for that!).
I was open and upfront.
So please post a little about yourself and the kid or kids who bring you here. Also answer this bonusn question:
What is your Autie/Aspie's current obsession(s)?

I'm Heather(I definitely have many Aspie traits), and apparently I share a birthday with Valerie!!! I will be 32 in 19 days. I'm another Virginian (by way of Ohio, South Dakota, Wisconsin, Texas, and New York (long story)). I've lived here with my dh Kirk (37, probably undiagnosed Aspie) for 9 years now. We have two boys Joshua (7, AS), and Justin (3, NT-ish).
Josh is the kiddo that brings me here. We always knew that something was different, he was diagnosed with hypotonia at 8mos, but we were discharged from EI a few months before he turned 3. We just assumed that being discharged meant that there were no more hurdles for him, and he must be on track developmentally and otherwise. We basically ignored our continuing feelings that Josh was "different". We got a diagnosis of AS almost a year ago after a SEd teacher friend suggested that Josh might fit the AS diagnosis the year prior. He is now in first grade (mainstreamed classroom), and gets OT as well as some in classroom accomodation.
Josh is a great, funny, bright kid, and he wants to be a comedy actor "like Jim Carey" when he grows up (typically that statement is followed by "oh,and a policeman, and an army man")--he loves to imitate characters in movies played by Jim Carey. His obsession is (an ironically not anything having to do with Jim Carey) Star Wars! Anything and everything Star Wars! He knows how many of each colored lightsaber appears in which movie, whose lightsaber is whose by only the handle etc. etc. etc. (I must say though that he comes by this obsession honestly--dh has a massive Star Wars collection--two peas in a pod). OY! Although I don't think I can call his other interests obsessions--he loves to do puzzles, he makes almost everything into a pattern, and loves bus numbers--any numbers really, but bus numbers are the favorite.
Did I cover everything???
Heather

Hi I'm Lainie, I'm 42 and work part time, two days a week. I have been married to Tony for 13 years.
I have a 20 yr old dd who is married and has a beautiful 2 yr old. He's grammas little cutie! I love it when he calls me grammas and Tony Poppas! It melts your heart.
My just turned 11 yr old is why I'm here mainly. I did have testing with a pys a few months back. They found Dysgraphia, VPD, mood disorder etc. He has ocd and sensory issues and problems with pragmatic speech and a thought disorder. The doc also said he has "traits" of Aspergers.
Tomorrow we have an appt with Stanford for a second opinion.
I have my youngest guy also who is 7. I will have him tested next, as I see he has some of the same traits Chris has, but not as extreme as Chris's. He actually shows more signs of Tourettes and am waiting for a appt with a Ped Neuro. I'd take him to Stanford, but their tourettes person is on sabaticle.
Anyway, hmmmm Chris's latest obsession. They change often but they usually are centered around business, money or numbers (Heather my guy love's bus numbers too lol). He was obsessing over digging an underground fort in our back yard. He had everything planned out in his head, How big the sq footage the rooms were going to be, what kind of appliances to have in this room, how much it was going to cost him (of course! lol) to do all of this.
When he asked I said oh heck go ahead, thinking he would get tired after an hour of digging lololol. NOPE not the case as this hole is now big enough for my 7 yr old to stand in and have a difficult time getting out of lololol. Thank god the side yard has no use right now.

oh I had to stop back in on this one just to say the HARRY POTTER obsession is BACK!
Oh Yeah, yippee, fun. don't know why it has started but suddenly hee was watching one of the movies earlier today and other little signs of obsession are coming in.

Matthew is my guy that brings me here. I have always felt he had some issues and even held off on his 15 month vaccinations, because some thing didn't feel right. When the pediatrician said, "what do you want me to do? Call him autistic?" I felt stupid and dropped it. Long story short, we have a diagnosis of attention deficit now, but he is in the process of testing through the school system and from all indications he will receive a diagnosis somewhere on the spectrum. Generally does well in school, but is crashing and burning with expressive language in speaking and writing when given a topic not his own. Now the boy can talk...... pokemon, star wars and animals (particularly reptilian-- I guess those are his obsessions). He also is showing more difficulty in social situations and rigid behaviors. We anticipate a meeting with the psychologist in 2-3 weeks.
Matthew has shown some great development, in soccer he almost scored a goal last game, he has his brown belt in karate and he is very sweet to younger kids.
Andrew has normal development, is a great friend to all, very affectionate and loves to have fun!

Debbie (30) and Isaac (15 days from turning 6 years old) in Minnesota.
Isaac is who brought me here.
Chanel here.
Hi I'm Shelley, 40 married for 15 years to DH, Gary. We have one little guy DS Vaughn (6).
He's in an inclusion Kindergarten and doing pretty well after a rough transition back to NJ. We live in Central NJ, (moved to NC for one year and moved back to NJ).
I work part time, DS and I opened an eBay drop off store and juggle it with DS' schedule. DS was diagnosed when he was 3 (very textbook), loved shapes, numbers, letters and freaking out in that order. That was then and now he's a really cool kid who loves his mommy, (although he still likes to freak-out occasionally).
Current obsession, I hate to admit it, weapons...Ninja swords, cap guns, bow and arrows, nurf guns (all toys, of course). I avoided buying them for months until I saw him using his shampoo bottle to blow up the bad guys. He loves Time Warp Trio from Discovery Kids and watches it religiously. He knows alot about history from this show but it has also opened up the door to the weapons stuff.
He also still loves to narrate a Thomas the Tank Engine story and is very into rabbits, especially Baby Bugs Bunny (from Baby Looney Tunes).
Glad to be here.

Sara (ancient) married to dh Cliff (younger) and mom to Malcolm (age 9, PDD-NOS although he may now be closer to an aspie...) I teach fitness and act, DH designs macros and works with software packages for Wall Street firm, DS is a NYC kid.
We live in NYC proper, worst school district for special education. Malcolm spent 2 years in a wonderful special needs preschool (lucky break), 3 years in different private special needs elementary schools with VERY mixed results, but then Malcolm is an unusual kid. Too bright, too social to be in special needs schools, too volatile and not enough self-regulation to be in mainstream schools. Sigh. So we are now homeschooling and continuing to look into school options, big city and so far no luck for next Fall.
Obsessions : always video games and right now, Pokemon and "Calvin and Hobbes". Since he can and does talk about alot of other things, I never quite think of these as obsessions compared to some kids we know who can't talk about ANYTHING other than their interests, but there is now an obsessive quality to his interests.
He is also an avid reader, terrific at schoolwork, does Tae Kwondo, basketball and horseback riding, and has lots of friends.
We like him ...most days.
