autism cure

i picked up the magazine " good housekeeping's quick & simple" and on the cover was an article "tv's jenny mccarthy - the diet that healed my autistic son".

of course, that's what I should do and my kid would be completely cured. ah ha, either that or I just don't lead a charmed enough life-- my kid doesn't respond to elimination diet and perfect men don't just drop into my lap. geez, sensationalism sells.

I cannot believe the amount of respect that woman has gotten with regards to autism. It really is bugging me. So a former playboy playmate with a young child who happens to be doing well is now the authority on all things autism? What about the moms who still care for their adult non-verbal children who have tried the diet and everything else out there? What about the researchers who have spent their lives on this.
Rant done. Thanks for the heads up. I heard her on the radio locally a few weeks ago and it just infuriated me honestly. I guess that is the doom of those of us with the uncured. Then again the whole cure thing really bugs both my kids.

Cure, schmure.
I absolutely agree with everything you have all said.
I'd be willing to try that diet, but first I'd need to get my kid to eat something that doesn't say "Kraft" on the box.
Hey Andie,
I love your blog! when do you find the time? I hang out here and over on the Polar Bear board, but don't do justice to either. My middle son, Weston (11 and in 6th grade) is autistic. Denise and Liza from the Polar Bear board also have boys on the spectrum, amazing how many of us there are.

I know exactly what you mean about it not really being possible.
