I had the chance to see it. I personally enjoyed it. My dad called and told me it was difficutl for him to watch becuase of some familiar territory I deal with daily. It's very stressful on a marriage and I feel that worries my father also.
I saved in on my DVR so I'll be watching it again. If you have ON DEMAND via your cable subscriber, you should have it ON DEMAND.
You'll love this. About 1/2 way through watching the mini version with the girls on the computer, DH announces he has had this video for like nearly a year on DVD. GRRRRRRR
So we watched it, the whole family. The kids and I loved LOVED it. I particularly had a hard time not crying when that girl was singing at the end. I just LOVED that girl.
Ohhh, and as a point of interest, Stephen Stills son is one of the kids featured. The one kid with aspergers. How cool is that.
I fell in love with these kids. The girl singing at the end had me in tears. Stephen Stills son was a blast to watch. Him and the kid Wyatt reminded me SO much of Victor. I left it on the dvr. I'm curious to see what Lil Vic thinks of it, if he identifies with these kids or not.
Yeah, I was thinking it could have that affect on folks with younger children as can lots of the information on autism. It is hard, this is a hard time during the earlier years. It is easier for me because mine are older so I kind of already know where/how they are going to end up. Many of the worst are in the past, kwim?
HOwever, take a look at that boy Neal. In the video in the beginning he was naked and tantrumming. Near the end he was lighting manora candles and dancing with him mom. Sure there were still tough spots but over all things are really so much better.
I like it because it showed the full range of kids on the spectrum. It showed the good without really sugar coating the bad. I liked that Stephen Stills kid was in it. That was interesting.
The eye contact thing I do agree with you. I am not big on pushing eye contact. I can see pushing joint attention and having the child orient to the speaker and be involved in the conversation but forcing eye contact with my kids is a no no. Though Cait's future teacher and I are going to be at odds about that one I can tell you.

I loved it and hated it at the same time!
LR-thanks!

Yeah I am totally going to try to watch it online or possibly I heard it would be on "On demand" for a week too.
