Well we went to the big bday party with 70 people in a LARGE home. Needless to say they have dogs which ds has allergy to dander, they are put outside, and he still rubs his face on their sofa and carpet------HELLO swollen eyes.
He hates her food and is starving and when they sang "Happy Birthday" all hell broke loose.
It was SO bad, we had to leave. We were there about 90 minutes.

I am just beside myself. You never realize what you don't see with your dx'd child until you're surrounded by a dozen of NT's.

I am just in a low place right now. I need to have my Zoloft rx filled tomarrow.
I sucked down 2 beers while there, God knows I needed it.

We've done gatherings there, just not to that caliber.

Just needed to put my misery out there

Nora,

I'm sorry it was such a bad experience. Over the years we've learned if we have to go to a big party like that to do a lot of preparation in advance. We try to tell the kids what to expect, like they'll sing, they'll be lots of people and noise, ect. We take food if we think it will be an issue. We let ds take his nintendo DS so he can hide away in a corner with it and feel safe. Head phones or ear plugs are also good in this kind of situation. Also dh and I chant to oursleves, "NO expectations"! LOL Meaning we have to be realistic that we may need to bolt early and be OK with that.

Here's hoping the next one is better.
