And yes, we had a LOVELY time, but give this family a gorgeous white sand beach with warm waves and all 3 of us are happy campers. And give Malcolm one of his best buddies traveling along to play with on vacation and he is on top of the world.
Over a week on the Zoloft and so far so good, but then all he's been doing is floating happily on waves for hours and fighting Sea Monsters (dads) with squirt guns in the surf and even had a day at Busch Gardens riding the big fast twirly roller coasters, so there maybe couldn't be a happier boy on the planet. So --- Zoloft? or joy? Can't quite tell yet..
BUT we do see the difference, transitions great! physical discomfort shrugged off, able to handle limits, such as they were, with ease. No tears or meltdowns, hardly any arguments except completely reasonable ones. He had conversations with stranger kids on beach and at pool --- with one very funny spectrum moment, when one of boy's moms came over and Malcolm calmly asked him "Is this old lady your mom?" to which the boys he was talking with fell over laughing. The (fairly young and attractive) mom kindly accepted his rephrasing "Is this lady your mom?", which came after my admonishment...
The family we traveled with, close pals, all noticed the difference immediately as well. SO, now we are waiting to see how back-to-new-school goes, rest of week, baseball game, etc. Crossing our fingers that he continues to do well with this one.
And in the meantime, I got a little color, some long walks and runs on the beach along with the many hours floating and bodysurfing, some nice cuddle time with dh and was still sound asleep by 10 pm every night ZZZZZZZZZZZ conked out completely.
Vacation ... Good thing!
Sara

Sara,
I'm glad you guys had a nice time and some well deserved R&R. It does sound like the Zoloft is helping, although time (and school) will help. Please keep us up to date in this, I woudl like to know how he gets on.
I have to laugh at the "old mom" comment. It reminds me of the time Siobhan got into a um ...verbal disagreement with some other kids, and they got into the "my mom is bigger than your Mom" thing. I was laughing so hard. I told the other mom (who was very skinny and fit- looking. "OH?" she said and then added with a big grin "who won?"
We aren't the only ones who have to keep a sense of humor.

That sounded lovely! So glad you all had a good time. Somehow vacation tiredness is always different and better than running around the city, working, cooking dinner...etc tiredness.....I'll take the first one any day!

I am so jealous! That sounded like paradise and I NEED a little bit of paradise right now. I love your story about "the old lady" because I had a similar thing happen with Jake in a store one time. It was mortified at the time but it's hilarious when I think back on it now!Glad you had so much fun because you deserve it!
