Malcolm and I are back from visiting his girlfriend in TX, and still dealing with aftermath of him having had to leave camp. He is still wound so sensory-high and touchy, and I know he is still upset about not getting to finish, but not willing to talk about it all yet. I am now starting to do more follow-up with the counsellors and camp to find out the real story, and where Malcolm (age 8, PDD-NOS) had difficulty on a regular basis, so we can know more about how and what to work with him on next. Next summer and going again to camp is not that long off.

Texas was great, although also challenging. He LOVES his girlfriend (also 8, but soon 9, older woman) and wants to marry her when they grow up, and is often overwhelmed by his feelings and wants to kiss her (on the cheek). She didn't always want this, she is a little touch-aversive... But then after she had denied hugs and kisses, he wasn't feeling her borrowing his gameboy games LOL. Things got better after we all talked about how each one was making the other feel, and also after I pointed out that if she wanted gameboy games, kisses would probably work!!! He got quite a few more kisses and was moi happier.

Hot, hot, hot, so we went to waterslide parks and indoor miniature golf and airconditioned arcades and swimming pools. We helped clean up her school (a private school much like his and lovely) and they cleaned windows together and met her new teacher and helped move desks around, etc. They read books while cuddled together, and squabbled alot and almost broke up twice.

But they ended the trip still boyfriend and girlfriend, and actually I am glad Malcolm got a healthier dose of reality about her, as he has been fantasizing and forgetting that sometimes she is hard to get along with. She is a really nice girl, and yes, as he says, VERY beautiful...

Now off to Minnesota to visit his many beloved cousins and hang out at the lake, hopefully that will help him (AND me) relax more.
