Bad influence at school

David has a friend in his second grade class. They hang out at recess, and share endless quntities of potty-humor. I'm very pleased that he has a buddy.
But...today he told me that his friend had told him all about a movie he saw. David said he was surprised the kid was even allowed to watch it, because it had a man and a woman, and the woman took off her shirt and then her bra. Okay...well, *I* don't let my kids watch anything more risque than Dragon Tales, but I realize that a lot of people want the freedom to just watch their grown-up movies even if the kids aren't in bed yet. But then he told me that the kid described another movie, this time a horror movie. He told me the details of some horrific mutilation scene that I won't repeat, but it was very disturbing. I'm never quite sure how these things affect him, but I know that having this image in his mind must be damaging in some way. How could it not?
I always knew that I wouldn't be able to protect him from this stuff forever, but it really bothers me that I can't even send him to school without having him hear the details of some sadistic horror movie scene. I *know* David, and I know that now he is aware that people actually make movies like that, he'll be thinking up his own slasher/gore stories to tell his little brother. I also know that if he ever gets invited over to that kid's house, I'm coming along.
Just wanted to get that off my chest. Oh, BTW: It's official: David has watched more television AT SCHOOL this year than he has seen at home. Isn't that something? They watch Arthur in the library. Is it just me, or is there something wrong with that??

Evelyn,
It is amazing what parents let their kids watch! Nathan can't relay that kind of info to me as of yet. But I'm sure that if he's ever in that type of situation, he would probably reprimand the child for watching such things!!! LOL

ACK! some parents!
I think I'd limit his contact w/ this kid. I know that's hard to do at school, but some kids are just a little too worldly for my kids to have extended play time with!
I have no idea how Weston would react to that. I'm not sure I want to find out.
