Bathtime dilema solved...for now!

Showers!! Could it have been this easy all along? About 3 weeks ago I tried a shower with Nick and he loved it. Bathtime has been a major struggle and cause for serious meltdowns with us. He has been showering now and it has been so much easier. We have one of those adjustable flow showerheads so I can turn it down low and it has the 4 foot cord so he can spray the walls and rinse himself off. I get him washed up, close the curtain and let him have at it. He still sometimes balks in getting in there, but when he hears the water running, it is a bit easier. Plus we tell him if the water runs too long, we will use up our allotment for the week and he wont have any left over for the sprinklers on the weekend :). That usually works. I must think of these things in my sleep!

I love it when I figure out a problem like this! Baths in the beginning were good, but I could never get my child/children to pick up a bar of soap to wash themselves. I remembering washing them when they were too old to be washed. I would wash everything but their privates and had them do it themselves.....

I did alot of bubble baths hoping the soap would just be enough to clean their bodies.... when they got older.

Now that they have switched to showers (still hard to do, older son says its a waste of time and it doesn't make any sense for him to wash himself ARGHHHHH) I still have to smell their hair and arm to make sure they used soap and shampoo. Mine are older and I can't go in to wash them, tho I would love to do so....

Glad to hear you found a solution. My kids would also respond if I explained what you explained about the water allotment lol. You feel like your tricking them, and hey you are..... but the outcome is great lol. I think I might try that one :)

The water allotment also works great when Nick is outside playing with the hose and wont put it down. He gets naughty and starts spraying everything, including the house. If I get too close to him, the little bugger will turn the hose on me, totally p***es me off. DH goes in and shuts off the water to the outside faucet and we tell him that the water company shut off our water because we used too much. Thank god he hasnt quite figured that one out yet and we avoid a meltdown!
