I had the most amazing conversation with Malcolm (age 8, PDD-NOS) last night and I just had to write how proud I am of him!!!!! In general, this year since recovering from bad end of camp experience, and stressing out rather majorly for over 6 weeks, he has been doing just great and better and better.
We have started to discuss the move to the new school (even though with BOE nonsense we don't yet have an exact date for change, but likely in January) and last night we sat in our favorite pizza joint and had quite an indepth discussion about the move and why. He was so grownup!!! He is pleased about the move, and told me about some things that happened at gym and music the day he visited new school and how much fun he had, also how excited he is that the new school will have a computer lab LOL.
Then he leaned over the table and patted my hand and said "Thanks for taking such good care of me, Mom" Choke. LOVE this boy!!!!

That story brought a tear to my eye! It's amazing that an 8 year old has the ability to verbalize his appreciation for all your hard work. No wonder your so proud of him!Great job Malcolm!

Sara,
That is soooo sweet of Malcolm!!! Tyler tells me things like this all the time. But he's always been mature for his age. I'm hoping that one day Nathan will be able to express himself like that too. It's so nice to hear! I know that when Nathan is finally able to say things like that.....it will definitely bring a tear to my eye!

(((HUGS))) what a great kid you have! and congrats on the very grownup conversation!
I actually find that my Weston (w/ HFA) has a more mature attitude concerning some things than his older NT sibs. He also amazes me w/ compliments & thanks that the other kids either forget to mention, don't think of or are too embarassed to mention.
