Well, it's official. We have no school for this year. The VERY expensive private, far-away incredibly restrictive classroom that had an opening and really wants him will not work, so close but no cigar --- the kids they have in the room are super smart, great language but just too volatile and disconnected for Malcolm. After many visits and meetings, dh and I are nixing it. I spent a few days mourning, I was hopeful, as we are just so bloomin' exhausted.
So --- I am taking out a loan, a sizable loan, and taking almost 5 months off of work. I have to. We can't keep this up. My gyms will not be happy, but I will work with them to cover my many classes with good long-term subs, most of them will probably let me come back this summer, but if not --- sayonara, moving on. Actually, all my fitness directors do know what's going on and are supportive and lovely, also I'm way expensive (and my subs won't be as much), so this will likely be fine.
Dh needs to be able to pull back on his Malcolm responsibilities, not altogether, but I need to be more hands-on in charge of Malcolm's home-school education, able to do some cooking again, do more physical things with Malcolm during the day such as running, biking. As Cliff is often up late at night with computer designs, his care of Malcolm during the day while I am working is just only able to handle so much -- although I am VERY proud of how much their relationahip has grown and how very, very well my dh has stepped up to the plate under incredible duress!!! We are just too much in overwhelm --- and even though Malcolm is doing terrific, his parents are not.
And I am completely burned out on my teaching jobs, not enjoying my classes, uninspired, dreading going every day. This is not good. For anyone.
That's the story. Now to implement. Still looking at other school options for this next summer or fall, if we opt for a summer camp. We'll see.
Arms quivering in exhaustion, huge muscle cramps, head spinning. Putting one of the glasses of water down, see if I can maybe balance other one on top of head!!!!

Good for you. This will be a good step for your family particularly if you are not enjoying your classes anyway.

Good for you Sara!
I'm sure since all the gym directors know you and your stuff and since you're getting good subs that you'll have a job to come back to-- and if not, you have a GREAT attitude.
Malcolm can only benefit from lots of one on one time from Mom!
