Hey Tina

Well I would tell the mom that your child has as seperation/anxiety issue..........Inform her you do not need to be feed or whatever, just there as a "support" for you child.

That's all she needs to know for now-------wink wink

I also tell cause folks are going to know anyway. At least I did when they were smaller, now it is more their own decision and Mike usually wants to tell, Cait goes back and forth.

That said, at 5 you will not be the only mom staying. It is a very common thing and their are moms of NT kids who won't be comfortable leaving them and will stick around. Most moms usually don't mind. I always did and I wasn't the only one there.

Depending on the person you are telling they don't always take the AS info well and if I thought it was going to be an issue I would just say something like the separation anxiety or just that I was a neurotic mom and would love to stay and help if that was ok, lol.

I know for a fact that at 5, NT moms stay with their kids at birthday parties. I have been to many a party where at least 2 moms are there, just because there little ones don't want them to leave. It's normal, and most party givers expect it. About telling dd has ASD. I look at it this way: When I go to a party, meet someone new, and introduce myself, I don't say "Hi, my name is Carey, I have hypothyroidism, asthma, and clinical depression." It's none of their business, and not info I would have to share at that point.
