Bobby's 1st Day New Preschool

Well we finally decided to go ahead and move Bobby from the autistic support preschool to the developmentally delayed preschool.

That's great news, way to go Bobby! Jake will be starting in a typical preschool next Monday paid for by the school district and I am hoping he will do okay. He's never been away from me for a long time and if we do go out usually my sister watches him so I'm a little traumatised right now at the thought of it. It's been a stressful couple of weeks between the house and leaving the wonderful therapists we had at EI but I'm hoping in a month or so things should have calmed down a bit. How did the party go?

COngrats on a good day.
Wow, that brought back memories. I remember reports of Cait not focusing during circle time when she was that age in preschool.
The only option we had for preschool at that time was an integrated preschool program where 1/2 the kids were special needs and 1/2 were typical. Of all the special needs kids in the class, I think only 3 were autism spectrum. Cait and 2 boys who were classic autistic. The others had a variety of delays. That did work out nicely because she was really encouraged more socially.
Cait's first "friend" was a little girl named Chrystal. Chrystal had general delays from brain damage at birth. She very much had a personality similar to a kid with downs syndrome. She absolutely would NOT let Cait go off on her own. She insisted Cait play with her, interact with her, etc. It was fantastic. We even had Chrystal over a bunch of times to play. She just LOVED Caiti for some reason and attached herself to her.
Hopefully Bobby will find himself a similar friend.

OMG! How long did it take to ice those cakes they look amazing, you did such a great job on them!?The kids look so cute and Bobby has gotten so big I hardly recognized him. Lizzie is a cutie pie! Jake is turning 3 on Friday but we are not having the party until Saturday.Jakes new obsession is the solar system so that's the reason for the cake. He talks about planets now like the way he used to talk about Thomas The Tank, it's driving me nuts! To be honest I don't think I've ever been this stressed in my life with all that's happening here with the house and the transition. Last week Jason's boss told him she didn't think we could move because the company like their employees to live within their territory. Jason will be an hour away from his so this was going to be a big deal but after a couple of days of his boss talking to her boss it all worked out. Our realtor is coming tommorrow to take pictures of the house to put online so I'm totally wiped out from cleaning(my obsession). I swear I never knew my kids had this many toys, the closets are full to the brim with toys(LOL)Well anyway I'm glad to hear everything went well. I bet you are exhausted!

They look like they are having so much fun! I'm glad Bobby did well at preschool. You are so right about expecting the worst. Everytime I think we are home free, we're not, but whenever I'm sure we are in for a horrendous ordeal, it's smooth sailing.
I'm getting ready for Duncan to either go to a developmental preschool through the school district, a regular private preschool, or kindergarden. We just don't know what to do, but that's a different post.
The Minni and Micky Mouse cakes are so cute! What a great way to have two parties in one.

Tina,
Cute pictures! I love the idea of Mickey and Minnie cakes! Sounds like Bobby did really great at his 1st day of preschool!! Staying focused on centers was difficult for Nathan too. He needed help with being redirected once he was finished with one center. He just didn't know what to do next or where to go....too confusing. It was also really awesome that Bobby went potty at school too!! Fabulous! Nathan has difficulty....or had difficulty going at school. He seems to be doing better this year. Anyway, hope school continues to go well for Bobby!
