The OASIS Guide to Aspergers is still my favorite. I've given away 5 or so copies of it.

For mom -

About AS and autism spectrum disorders....

Autism Spectrum Disoders by Chantal Sicile-Kira and

Autism Spectrum Disorders and Adolenscence by Chantal Sicile-Kira (she deals a lot with pre-adolecence to and lots of good tips)

OASIS is really good as well

for sensory challenges I like "Asperger Syndrom and Sensory Issues"

For meltdowns and behavior issues (if it is an issue) "Asperger Syndrome and Difficult moments".

personal stories from parents "Finding Ben", "Raising Blaze" (not asd specific but definitely stuck a chord)

Personal stories and veiw points from people with autism - Most of the DOnna Williams stories and i really like Jerry Newports books.

OHHHHH gotta watch the movie - "Mozart and the Whale" It is the story of Jerry and his ASD wife. Very beuno.

For ideas on how to help and communication/social skills
- Anything by Michelle Garcia Winner.

Stories or books for your dd - Well there is buster and the amazing daisy of course.

I also liked "Asperger syndrome the universe and everything" by kenneth Hall. Personal story by a 10 yo at the time.

"Aspergers, What does it mean to me"

I think there might be one with an "emily" as the main char.

For the sister, that is a tough one. I got one for my emily that was a collection of essays written by siblings that she liked but most of the kids in that book were more severely handicapped (though not all) so it depends on your dd and how well she can relate to that at this time. Mike is pretty obvious most times and Em has been around it for a while so she could relate. I think it is called "Views from our shoes"

That's the list off the top of my head. I am sure I forgot tons but it is a good start.

OHHHHHHHH

Novels written with and autistic/aspergers character.

"Eye Contact" by Cammie McGovern

"The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night time" by Mark Hadden (I think)

"The Speed of Dark" by Elizabeth Moon

"By the Light of the Moon" by Dean Koontz

When we recieved our Asperger's dx my son's neuropsych recommended that both we and the staff at school read Ross Greene's "The Explosive Child". It's an interesting read and can be applied to both ASD and nt kids. I think the school has even gone to some seminars done by Dr. Greene. The school psych is really well versed on this method and she has really become one of my son's favorites at school.
