This CRACKED me up! I love the way Mike thinks sometimes and his honesty. It always comes out in his school projects. This came home attached to a picture that must have been about the book.

My Favorite Part

I like it when the Ingalls family finally reaches Tracy. After a long day of eating junkfood, drinking water and being excited it finally paid off. (I eat organic, that means no junkfood, fastfood or, or sugary treats.) I mostly like that part because the book ends on that part. (It took me a while to read it, for Pete's sake.)

ROFLOL! that is just too funny! but he is relating to the book! He's drawing similarities between himself and the characters. I think our kids have a hard time deciding what "favorite" is when it's not really something they care deeply about (like their obsessions). Weston usually has a very difficult time w/ favorite when it's a book that he hasn't read a gazillion times, because he really doesn't have feelings about a book like that at all. And he's usually all too honest about not caring.

This totally isn't Mike's type of book so I can picture him just writing or saying "My favorite part is ...because it is the end" and either leaving it at that or totally changing the topic to something he likes. Then the teacher or aide directing him and working with him to expand on the report and his very concrete "But that is my favorite part. The book was too long!" or something like that. The kid is such a kick!

Around halloween he was supposed to write a small essay about a duck. It was part of the language arts book. Well all the kids write this sweet essay about the duck and the story. And Mike's started with a duck and turned into him and some monsters based around a halloween story he read in the library I think. It was totally off topic. Well to read the story the teacher was all freaked out that he was being so dark and it was violent. Something MUST BE UP! Until I reminded her about halloween and the influx of spooky stories and the books Mike had checked out from the school library. Then she just laughed.

My favorite is still his 3 wonderful wishes where he is going to banish all drugs from the entire world because his uncle smokes. He is too funny.
