Heya Pam.

I know at least 2 of us who have mini-tramps in our living rooms (me and Katherine).

We turn our hallway (long) into an obstacle course with mini-tramp, crawling tube, etc. and we do let ds junp on couch AND our king-size bed, he rolls and somersaults on the bed, stands on his head for long periods on the couch. We also let him scooter and skateboard up and down our loooooong hallway. We have a clingy, stretchy sack that velcros shut, he gets inside and we pull him back and forth. We massage his back and spine up and down with fast karate chops, he LOVES this, asks for it often when upset.

And, yes, he does also jump on the mini-tramp, although these days he's more into the bed and couch gymnastics.

Hi Pam,

My youngest 3, Weston ASD, Martha and Owen w/ SID to varying degrees, have hop balls, sturdy rubber balls w/ a handle on top to sit on and bounce. One mini-trampoline would not be enough at our house so this was a better solution. We had fairly open floor pan and not much furniture in the formal LR and a big open foyer. Weston and Martha like the way it gives direct impact to their bodies in a way a mini-trampoline doesn't. Owen still bounces into walls w/ his.

you can find them on a site called hearthsong dot com. they are not too expensive and the biggest one is big enough for me (it's Weston's and he is 5'2" and 70lbs) to bounce on.

We are lucky now to live in an area where it's warm enough most of the year to send them outside, we also have a fairly private back yard. When we lived in WI tho, we would bundle them up and send them outside-- the snow was a great sensory help! They would snow shoe and we had some snow stompers and sleds they would have a grand time w/.

The super kids are very cute!

I have very little advice... but I'm loving this thread! I'm so glad I found this group. Honestly, I kind of felt like I was once again shoving myself into a group where I didn't belong to consider myself and my son potential Aspies... but I keep finding so many threads that fit us to a 'T'. We may not fit every ASD description I see here... but from what I read no one really does!

And this? This is our forte! I can't tell you how many times my parents got on to me for leaping around the house... right up through high school. The only reason they don't still get on to me is cause I'm two states away! LOL... now my hubby gets on to me and our DS. I keep telling him like I always told my parents... he/I *really* can't help it! I tried so hard not to jump around as a kid and Connor is 'Mr Law and Order', but this is one we just can't not do!

I tended to banish myself as a kid/teen to a run outdoors... even in the cold... even in the dark... I did laps around our house constantly. (Got in trouble for that too... "You're gonna kill yourself running around out there"... hehehe. I decided not to tell them when I *did* manage to jam my big toe.) But I *still* ran and jumped *in* the house too... ... no idea what to tell you! (Except thanks for the reassurance that I really have found 'my people'!)

Great picture of your SUPER kids.....LOL....too cute!

I was losing my mind yesterday.....son was sooooo bouncy and talky.....he was driving me up a wall. He has a mini tramp but only uses it now and again......what he loves is his therapy ball (very large exercise ball)......he rolls on it.....trys to balance while sitting.....he loves when he brother hits him with it (bounces it on his back or head).....kicks it with his feet......it has been the best $15 I've spent in a long time.

Until that day, there is the playground when it is not raining (even if it is cold),

We've gone thru THREE mini trampolines!!! LOL Nathan loves these! I bought him his trampoline around the time he was dx'd. He says it really helps, he loves the way it makes his head feels!

Otherwise, Nathan is a real pacer...he likes to pace back and forth, and around the house. He also does jet from room to room on occasion!! LOL We also have a rocking chair which helps to calm him down when he gets upset or his anxiety level is up!
