Boys invited to a birthday.....but...

I may be nuts but the boys were invited to a birthday party at a jumpzone place (inflatable bouncy castles et al) on Saturday.

No I think your wonderful for going the extra step for them :). Its always sad to have to make these choices, that they may have to skip out on a life event, such as a birthday party, because of Autism.
Maybe if they are exposed to the envionment beforehand, it won't be so bad. And they can enjoy a birthday party that many other kids take for granted.
And then maybe it won't work out and you'll have to leave a bit early, but at least they got to experience the same thing that every other NT child gets to have.
Good luck, I really hope it works out for you guys :)
Dee!
sounds brilliant! esp getting there right when it opens on a school night-- I'd think it wouldn't be too busy and they could ck it out w/o so many other unpredictable kids around.

Dear Dee,
Way to go, I am sure. Yes, how did it all go for you and yours?
We are as always in a different situation because almost all of Malcolm's friends are like him, some form of HFA, and therefore parties we attend are accomodating by design and the parents all completely understanding.... but actually a jumping party may be better for your kids than you think, as jumping is so centering for the sensory system.
We have never turned down a birthday party and Malcolm enjoys them now very, very much. I am always ready to leave if there is a problem, but now I would have to have a promise of something Malcolm really would like to do NEXT in order to get him to leave early.
We esp. love swimming parties, gymnastics parties with rock walls, and bowling parties!
