Henry's Scout graduation is this evening. He will be "earning" his Tiger Cub rank and moving on to work on the Wolf stuff. Or however you say that. Anyway, Scouts was the first activity that Henry every asked to join, and he made it through the WHOLE SCHOOL YEAR! I'm so proud. He even did many, many of the electives.
We sort of forgot about the handbook, but when I looked through it the other day, there were so many activities that we did anyway that were Tiger Cub electives--like making a puppet, playing a board game with his family, making a birdfeeder, going to the zoo, lots of stuff like that.
I was showing all the things to Henry, and I told him that we did lots of things that it said to do and we didn't even know we were doing it for Scouts.
He has asked me if he will be doing Scouts next year, and I told him I would let him choose. I have no idea what he is going to pick.

Way to go Henry!!! That is wonderful that he was able to complete the whole year of Scouting! When Lily is old enough, I hope that she will have a desire to be in Girl Scouts. Her psychologist recommended it as one of the things that would be very helpful to her in the future.

That is really fantastic! I am so glad he finished the whole year and did I see that he is going to scout camp this summer too? Fantastic.
UGH, child here reminding me it is time to pick up Cait.

Congratulations to Henry! What great news!
My ds (8-AS) is also a tiger and will officially graduate to Wolf at Friday's pack meeting. Like Henry, this is also the first activity that he has lasted in for more than a couple of weeks. I live in a rural area, and Scouting is really big here. Also, it is probably the only activity available for kids who aren't into competetive sports like baseball, soccer, football, basketball. I've noticed that there are alot of quirky kids in our pack (and leaders too, lol). Frankly, that is what I really like about it ;)
I think the BSA is aware of this and I found this article interesting..
