I haven't been around much lately, and I know there are a lot of new people here who won't remember this, but some of you might. Last year, fifth grade, was horrible. David (AS), had this teacher who was a real piece of work. Piece of something, anyway. I ended up getting David put into a different class, but the damage was done.
Anyway, today I got to talking to another mom, whose son was in that class last year. I hadn't ever spoken to her before. I know this kid to be a really sweet, helpful, honest, good-mannered, pleasant young man. It turns out that he's got ADD. When we were talking about teachers and whatnot, I mentioned that David had been in Mrs. B's class, but it hadn't worked out, because we had "issues". The mom's eyes lit up, and she started telling me about the problems her son had had with her. It was the same stuff! Giving him endless detentions for "choosing" to not focus on his work.
But get this, okay. I thought I'd heard it all, but apparently Mrs. B. told this nice, sweet kid with ADD, I quote:
"Would you do your homework if I put a gun to your head?"
I mean, what the...?!
I don't know why I wanted to share that. Probably because I was so thrilled to hear that someone else had experienced this woman's true nature. Apparently the mom put in a complaint to the school district. Our school is cutting 14 teachers because of budget issues. I sure hope she's one of them, but I know she won't be, because she's been there for 150 years. One can hope.
