Can you believe my neighbor?

So, we live about half a mile away from Mad's elementary school. Mad is in kindergarten this year. Normally, a bus doesn't pick up within a mile radius of school, but Mad has autism and so she gets to ride the short bus. Another kid in her class is on the bus as well only she has cerebal palsy and is in a wheelchair. Well, my neighbor lives one house down from us. Her son is in Mad's class. She saw Mad get on a school bus and was all over me. She was saying it doesn't seem right they can't take her son to school, he's only one house away. It would be so much easier for her if he could ride the bus too. Would I go talk to transportation to see if he can ride the bus too? Is my oldest daughter riding the bus? (no).

I was being very polite to her, but I just wanted to say, "I'd give anything if my daughter didn't have to ride the short bus, you oughtta feel lucky your son doesn't."

People sure are dumb.

People can be very selfish. I know of people who cheat to get free school lunches for their kids so they don't have to wake up and make their kid a lunch.

If the lady has such a problem with it, why doesnt SHE call the district and take it up with them? Jeez. i feel for you. I think i would have said "i will call the district if you call God and chew his butt out for me. I think you still got the better deal."

Oh gosh!

Another person looking for something for nothing. Quelle surprise as a Canadian might say.

Sure why couldn't he just nip next door take one more child with no regard for process and prodcedures (not to mention insurance)? Of course; should anything go *wrong* during such a tidy little off-the-books procedure she would be the first to sue!

I think you did very well keeping your cool, although I really don't think it would have done any harm to put her right back in her box with that comment or even a stronger one. What a buffoon she is! Some people seem to think Special Ed is the soft option: The school bus goes right to your door? You have a matron? wow!

WOW?

Does that stand for something?

I guess I should've said something, but sometimes when things like that catch you by surprise, all I could think is "Is she really saying this?" When the shock wears off, then my brain works again, but it is usually over by the time that happens. LOL

I thought the WOW acronyms were funny!

ROFL! I knew someone would come up with some good ones! Thanks Candes. My brain shut down early last night, but I *did* get some small inspiration this AM.
