Can't get my son to take medicine

I am having such a horrible time with this! My son Jacob is 3 and has a fungal infection on his scalp (gross I know) and he was prescribed and oral medication twice a day for 6 weeks...we have been forcing him on the ground and using the seringe to squirt in his mouth and no matter what we do, it doesn't work at all! He still manages to spit in all out, my dh even holds his nose shut and in 5 doeses, he probably only got 1 dose in. we called the dr. office and unfortuanately there is nothing else they can give him...they told us to try serbert? Any suggestions would be great!!!!!
I appreciate it!

For liquid medicines I used to take Dr Sears advice: Use a dropper/syringe and put it in way back in the cheek pocket on the outside of the teeth (opposite side from the tongue).

Our 6 year old will not take meds of any kind on her own, so we've become the masters of deception. LOL The Rx she's on right now tastes really nasty...so we mix it in about 6 oz. of milk, stir it up really well, and give her a straw. She has to finish her drink before she eats her breakfast. The trick for us, is to make sure she never actually sees the medicine going into her cup. If she does, it's all over. You need to be sure to use as little "mixer" as possible, because you don't want to risk him not being able to finish the drink.
We've also used a little bit of soda. Yes, soda is the root of all evil...but she loves it, and never leaves a drop!
Good luck. I hate this battle. But we've been fighting it for years, so I feel for you.
