Did anyone catch the CBS Evening news special on Autism last night? It is a three part series starting with a very low functioning little boy who is non-verbal. Tonights is about a high-functioning boy (reminds me a lot of my 9 year old) and tomorrow is about a little girl -- not sure where she falls. But it seems like they are doing the story based on the boy in Rochester who scored all the points in his basketball game. The response was overwhelming and they decided to expand it. Looks to be done very well.

Would love to hear your opinions on the series.

Have a good day all!

Hi Amy,

Hi Amy,

Thank you for posting this. I just watched the video from last night on the CBS website, so if anyone missed it, you can catch it there. Also, they have another interview with the parents that is "web only" and was very moving to me, what we all feel about not giving up and trying everything. Our kids are mostly higher functioing than their little guy, but they articulated what we all feel at times. I think this couple was very brave to allow CBS into their home.

Even though both clips were short, it was a bit more "real" slice of life than some things I have seen on tv. Not so much informational or about therapy, more about people and feelings, it seemed to me at least. And that kind of awareness is needed too.

Looking forward to the next two parts of the series.
