Cha cha cha changes...for me (kinda OT)

I was just offered today a full time special ed job for next year. I was telling DH last night I would LOVE a change. I have had ENOUGH of autism and would like to teach something different. NO fun having it AT HOME and AT WORK. UGH.
Well I was offered a teaching position for a severe/profound class for kids in elementary. Most have orthopedic impairments as well (ie wheel chairs). I am excited. A new group of kids to love on. I will admit, this is basically the one group of special kids that I have little experience in so it is a new endeavor for me.
Wish me luck!
I almost didn't take it but it was the type of class and new challenge that convinced me.

Congratulations! I agree, working w/ them at work and at home is WAY too draining. The new class sounds like a great opportunity and wonderful for a new challenge!

Renee,
wow! I remember we talked abou tthis in chat, and it sounded like a pretty challenging job. Are they making the ratios any lower? I don't want to rain on your parade, but I'm worried about you, girl.

Well I am neurotic, lol.
I just got a call today for a interview in a different district for their autism program (darn it but it is considered my speciality area). At anyrate, it is a better district, better pay rate so I am at least going to interview. I am also still applying for a mod/severe class in my local district.
Paula, This one isn't the class I spoke of in Chat. That one is considered "Moderate/severe" and is mostly down syndrome/severe autism type kids. This one is medically fragile kids with profound disabilities and has 2 full time aides and 6 kids. Lots of toileting, feeding and positioning.
So there are changes, don't know which kind yet. lol.
I know I am ready to be done with my current class. I adore the kids but there are political issues that I am ready to be done DONE DONE with.

Renee,
Oh OK. I am glad it is not that class we had discussed. This one sounds better.
But you know, hey! a better district and better pay grade sounds pretty good too, so check it out. You have mouths to feed and you have to think of your future placements so you have to look at all components of all options and try and find the one with the best total package.
GL with the search.

LOVE those new piccies! Birthday GIRLLIE!!!!
I have to laugh cause that "ahhem" better district was mentioned by someone else in another post. They are well known in this area and that is yet another sign that maybe that is the right thing for me.
I was mentioning an interview with that district in my class tonight and got a lot of "ohhhhh everyone wants in on that district" comments.
I am crossing all four fingers and a few toes to get that one. Be nice to work for a progressive district that really knows what they are doing.
BUT the medically fragile class is still a good one too because I will like it. UGH decisions but ya know, this is a good kind of tough decision when we here are used to the other kind of tough decisions.
