We are coming into proper spring now, with some sunshine and noticeably warmer weather. But I *cannot* get Euan to adjust to this at all. He insists on wearing his full parka coat, full school uniform and hiking boots to school, because (to be fair) only a couple of weeks ago it was still raining/sleeting and he needed them. But this means that he is *too hot* and so spends ages taking various things off, and then of course leaving them behind in the playground etc. If I try to send him without a jumper/coat then we have several meltdowns about the possibility of a slight breeze leading to hyperthermia. I'm just really tired of this discussion, and at the moment I cannot summon up the strength to take him shopping for an 'acceptable' summer jacket (because this would be an all day event involving several public meltdowns. I know this makes me a Bad Mother, particularly in the eyes of other parents who don't really understand why I cannot make my extremely intelligent 11 year old son dress appropriately. These parents need to find me a store that stocks jackets-with-hoods-that-are-light-but-water[proof-and-have-no-labels-and-no-logos-and-no-scratchy-collars-and-no-buttons-on-the-sleeve-and-have-inside-pockets-for-torches-and-maps-and-binoculars-and-do-not-cost-my-entire-month's-housekeeping-money and that are within a 5 minute drive with a science-fiction or map-related bookstore next door and THEN they can start being sniffy!).
And do not get me started on summer shoes!!
Sorry, just had to vent about this somewhere where people will 'get' this without thinking me mad...!!
