I've seen that kid, Taylor, before on a different video.
Well there were quite few low functioning autistics in there, but its funny, I always try to identify other autistics with chris too! For me its almost trying to prove or dissaprove how he is. It drives me crazy sometimes.
It was a good film, in fact I sent the link on to a board on ebay that I regulary post on. I figure there's nothing wrong with teaching the public.
But I did strive to find Chris, which I don't think I ever will. Their all unique...
What also struck me odd, as all of the info I have found on the internet talks about their voices with a weird pitch and in a drone fashion. A flat afflect too. I heard that in the low functioning ones, but not the higher functioning ones...
Interesting....

I adored it. I guess I've been around enough different "levels" of autism that I could easily identify with several of the individuals.
Evelyn I found your comment interesting because our oldest is a textbook Aspie (if there is such a thing) and he reminds me soooooo much of Taylor. I can watch this video and see my son in 10 years.
Thanks for sharing, Renee!

LOL, I also saw alot of my kids in there. In fact I thought many in the video were quite high functioning, more like Cait and some where like Mike. Cait I saw more like Taylor too. In fact when one of the family said he had grown up so much emotionally while making the film, I have felt the same way about Cait since she started volunteering at REINS.
Possibly because I have been around alot of kids at various levels of autism too. Even the one less-verbal boy who was communicating through his dad I found was doing quite well.
I found it very interesting that most of the more verbal/more able individuals spoke pretty typically and not with an odd tone of voice. Maybe a bit flat but that was about it. That is very much Cait. She had much more atypical voice patterns when she was younger but now it is pretty typical but a bit flat. Very similar to those kids. Mike's is usually a bit more atypical but varies between very atypical and fairly typical.

I saw a lot of similarities in there to my kids and DH, especially Jade. And I identified a lot with the younger brother! "Sometimes it seems like you don't care about me. But, sometimes I think you are really cool and you really do care about me."
Story of my life.

I loved when the father said to Taylor:
Well, it's true that David isn't exactly a textbook aspie.
I thought this was very interesting. Has anyone seen the entire 90 min documentary? I wonder if it would be worthwhile to purchase?
I think I saw a different shorter clip last year some time, maybe when the DVD first became available. I thought about purchasing it then, but got sidetracked and forgot about it. Maybe I'll look into it again.
I'm assuming that the full version has longer interviews, which I would like to see. In some ways Taylor reminds me of my Ryan, particularly when Taylor was speaking in front of groups of people, and his body language in general.
On a side note, you can find almost anything on youTube. I guess I just started randomly searching for stuff, and I was amazed at the hits I got. Aside from everyone's home videos, there are TV shows, entire movies, concert footage, you name it.
Anyway, thanks for sharing!

NAPOLEAN DYNAMITE???
Maybe it was just the head full of blonde curls, but a few minutes into the video I almost wondered if that character wasn't modeled after Taylor.
