I thought Renee would like to see my spin on her checklists (that she uses at her house).

Very very cool both of you!

As a tip, I have found it helpful if each child has their own clipboard they take with them or leave in a central place. I use mini clipboards which fit about 1/2 sheet of paper. I have 2 checklists per page and cut them in half. More portable it seems. Works for us anyway.

I also have picture schedules in anyone wants help with those for kiddos' who are still learning to read. We were using a pic schedule posted on the wall and recently switched to the clipboards again. I go back and forth because things get old and stop working.

Oh, instead of doing days across the top I have put a blank place for the kids to put the date. That way if it is missed (days I am not here or we are out late at grandparents) it isn't a big deal with the routine king.

Debbie,

I'm a bit curious about the sweeping and mopping.

I love the checklists and the idea of the checklists. When it was brought up in the past, I created my own version, but I haven't yet figured out how to make the kids respond to the checklists. The first couple of days they were a fun novelty, but now it's just another chore for me to make the kids do! Maybe I need to try individual lists and have them check each item off. There's nothing that really motivates them to do it, tho.

My other problem is that if I make the list too general, they forget stuff, but when I include details, the list gets so long that they start to feel overwhelmed. This is the kids' a.m. list:

Go to the bathroom (yes, I have to tell ds)
Make bed (wishful thinking)
Take vitamins &/or medicine
Eat breakfast
Take bath or shower if needed
Brush teeth
Brush hair
Wash face
Get dressed in clean clothes, appropriate for the weather
Put dirty clothes in hamper
Take hamper downstairs for clothes to be washed
Get backpack ready for school
Put lunch in backpack
Get coat or raincoat, hat, and mittens, if needed
NO T.V. in morning (without special permission)

It seems so long, but every items is truly necessary. Right now I figure that even if the kids aren't responding to the lists, if I were to drop dead tomorrow, at least AS dh would have some reference for what needed to be done and what the kids needed to do.
