I know its near impossible to get a mercury reading once it has bonded in the brain, but I think I can get other metals such as aluminum and lead.

If you do the doctor's data hair elements test you can use the counting rules to determine probably mercury toxicity. A lot of people on the A-M list are working on their own. It is overwhelming but if you know what you are dealing with then you can work on getting your little boy healthy again. Its a long road so just keep reminding yourself its not a sprint, its a marathon. Pace yourself and take care of you too!

The liver tends to store metals. It has a hard time releasing them if the system for removing them (the PST enzyme) is impaired. That could explain why it was the middle section that binged in that case, if he didn't swallow something or whatever. In a study of the brains of deceased ASD people of various ages, they found inflammation. What I always wondered is why didn't they check for mercury(or lead or iron excess), whether in the brain or liver? Or if they did, why weren't the results also released? Ditto for the intestines. Were they even looking in there? The best they could come up with was lots of inflammation? That's like saying we studied diabetics and determined they have inflammation, which tells you nothing about the pathology of the condition. Diabetics have a hard time releasing vitamin A as well because it's stored in the liver and ASD kids also have vitamin A issues. So it's kind of hard to tell where we are on toxicity of vitamin A if we actually are inadequately able to release it and continue to store if it we consume supps. The same with the B vitamins. Some of them are not getting released in some type of ASD kids. For someone like me and my oldest dd, it's the opposite, where we seem to burn through everything at hyper speed: fat, riboflavin, collagen, etc.

Anyway, pretty interesting about the binging. My kids had been "wanded" at the airport when we went to NYC a year after 9/11 but no binging for either one. She (youngest) didn't much like being taken aside apart from her family (stranger anxiety) and being physically handled by a uniform. I didn't know what to tell the lady because I figure the explanation would take longer than the wand, she wasn't going to skip the wanding anyway probably, and it wouldn't hurt her. I agree with Paula about hemachromatosis being a huge possibility. Paula, what kind of doc did you go to for hemachromatosis evaluation? Was it your regular doc? I'm really surprised with the numbers I've seen purported on hemachromatosis that it's not part of a person's checkup.

Yep. I'm not surprised. I didn't think it was a mistake yesterday.

Midsection: could be liver or kidneys. For a laugh; you could have them do front vs back and see if you can pin it down. If more at the back to each side; it is more likely to be kidneys (a common place for iron buildup) If at
