What on earth do you guys get your kids for presents?
My son just doesn't play with anything. At 3yo---we bought him that huge train table/set from Costco. He played with it on Christmas Day. Hasn't touched it since----2 years later. Last year--it was the big Costco Hot Wheels set. Played with it for maybe 2-3 times. Thats it. Never touched it again. I feel like I can't buy him anything---he doesn't play with anything. He has enough Legos. I didn't want to buy him those anymore.

So what did you guys buy your kids?

Hi Holly - one more suggestion - if he's into legos he might like Magnetix (sp?)

Thanks for all the ideas---but......you are going to think I'm crazy......my son really has ALL of those things you suggested. Everything!! Bikes---he's been able to ride a 2-wheeler since 4yo(without training wheels), scooters, skateboards, hoppity-hops, trampolines, sit and spins(even with light and sounds), etc. He really doesn't hold an interest with anything. Magnetix---I thought he would like---nope---they got thrown around the house. Any sort of balls---get thrown.

We thought about laser-tags this year---but do I really want my son to shoot people with a gun?

I actually "observed" him this morning taking a shower and "playing" with his army men. He wanted all of them in the shower with him. He never played with the "men" themselves. Just the helicopter and tank. Crashing, shooting, and running into each other. He only plays with sounds and never language. Is that a "normal" boy thing? Or an ASD thing?

I don't know if it is a boy-thing or an ASD-thing but my DS only makes noise during play as well - no language. He is a train junky so there are alot of steam sounds, chugging and whistle sounds in my house.
