My baby boy (Cian 4) is starting the spec ed pre-K tomorrow. This was what dh and I wanted all alomg and I really am thrilled but......
MY BABY BOY IS ENTERING THE STATE SYSTEM TOMOORROW!!!!!!!
Meaning...that's it, he's their's (within reason) until he turns 18! I'm a figgin' basket case,...sigh. he's oblivious and dh is delighted.....then why am I sooo upset? Man this whole motherhood thing bites.
Dee

Oh even with Dave entering Kindie I was the same way. I was with all of them. It is the right thing for him but that doesn't mean our mommy heart strings don't get yanked out a bit. KWIM? I think of it as the mini-empty nester syndrome.
Good luck tomorrow Cian!

You're such an Irish Mammy, but I feel for you.

Hi Dee,
Good luck to you and your baby.
And just remember, they may NOT have him until he is 18, not if they don't do a real job!!!!
(As she prepares for a second year of homeschooling due to lack of any kind of appropriate programming)

I hear ya, Dee.
I am in complete mourning as my 6 year old has aged out of the most wonderful (non-public) school. I was in shock last year when he started kindergarten. I really felt like the public school was completely full of itself, and making it clear that it's their way or no way, and that they knew best when they had never met my son.
It seems to me that Cian's going to be Cian, even if you send him to boot camp. I don't think he'll loose his individuality that easily.
