Wed, 05-19-2010 - 12:32pm

we have at least 40 of these conversations in some variation through out the day.

Rylee : I want more juice.

me: well where is your juice cup?

rylee: i dont know.

me: go look for it.

(she goes & looks)

rylee: i dont see it!(panicking)

( i go look, & almost always its sitting in plain sight!!)

me : rylee jae its right here!!!

rylee: oh "giggle"

ARGHHHHHHHHHHH seriously i go through this so many times and its usually for her juice cup, her fav teddy and a pacifier which we have at least 5 of those stupid things floating around here. but she cant keep track or for some reason her eyes just dont see what it is shes wanting.. am i the only one dealing wih this ?

OMG, all the time! Aidan is always looking for something. It could be right in front of his face and he doesn't see it. I tell him to look to and he can never find it even if I tell him where to look. Yet, I can always find what he is looking for in no time.

LOL

I have the exact same problem, only it's with DH!! I've got very good visual/spatial perception where as his is nearly non-existent. However, he's the guy who can listen to the answering machine once, walk over to the phone and dial the number. I have to listen like 5 times and write the number down.

We all have our strengths and weaknesses.

This happens at my house all the time, not only with my AS son (age 12), but also with my NT daughter (age 15)!

My DS is 13 and I still go through that at least once every day. He can't find something and immediately panics and starts freaking out. Whatever he's looking for is rarely somewhere *unusual*.

*sigh*

Yep....same issue here...DH and Gabe.

Matt: Jessie where is the Milk?
Jessie: Top shelf behind the orange juice.
Matt: It's not there.
Jessie: It is there, I just put the orange juice back in the fridge. It's there. Fine hold on I'm coming to look.

Guess where the milk is? Yep...right where I said. This happens all.the.time!

Gabe doesn't have very good verbal processing abilities. So to say to him "go get your coat, it's in your room in the closet." He's just lost. I usually break down my speech for him. "gabe, coat, closet, your room" Simple and short. Gabe also can't follow a point. So when I point to something across the room...he can't follow that point with his eyes. This is getting better for him....but we practice it a lot.

I think NT kids that too! I remember being that way when I was a kid....maybe not as extreme though.

PS....your kids are sooooo cute.

Oh and Gabe still has a pacifier...glad to see someone else on here has the same issue.

Do you let Rylee have it in public?

Oh thank God I'm not the only one. *sigh of relief* I'm going to start a pacifiers anonymous. Wanna join?

We are trying hard to get rid of nunny...but it just isn't happening. I keep reminding him he is NOT taking it to kindy. We have been working on social stories about it. I can sometimes also get him to leave it behind in the car...usually I put it in my pocket for emergency use :-).

Does Rylee start kindy in the fall?
