Conditional Diagnosis

Hi everyone, I've never posted on this side of iVillage before but I've been around!
I'm brought here today because I'm just absolutely frustrated. Here's a bit of history...
My daughter, now 8, has always shown *some* signs of behaviour issues. When she was a baby, my doctor postponed her MMR needle because i have some autism in the family and he didn't want to chance anything with her because of her behaviours. then she entered the public school system and things went nuts! School setting just isn't right for her.
this year is her second go around in grade one. I had to fight with the board to keep her back a year because this province WILL NOT hold children back no matter what. But she just wasn't ready for grade two. They agreed to test her and the results were she was more at a kindergarden level so they agreed to put her in grade one again.
Well struggle after struggle, then suicide talk and complete meltdowns, I've had enough. I've pulled her out of school and we are now homeschooling. Peacefully!
So rewind three weeks, she goes for all these tests through the mental health department to determine if there is a learning disability.
Results today:
Results show signs of PDD although not strong enough for a diagnosis. However, in order to get her the help she needs in school, they are willing to diagnose her with PDD.
I informed them that I'm homeschooling... oh well in that case, no diagnosis is made, we will sit and wait to monitor her behaviour... again...
How can we have a conditional diagnosis? her tests revealed that she is still 2 years behind. She still can't read (although since I started homeschooling i've seen a major progress)
so I would like to know from others, did you get the run around to get a PDD-NOS diagnosis? Oh and by the way I despise the NOS because as a teen, I was anorexic(NOS)... NOS standed for *I still get a monthly period so I'm not 100% anorexic*! Come on!!! I'm glad to report I'm way over that period in my life and overweight! LOL
Anyone else out there with a conditional diagnosis? I'm not putting her back in school just to have *the paper*. I don't want to label my child, I want answers and resources!
Katie

Katie, welcome to the board!
THAT has got to be frusterating.
How dare you call me HUMAN lol!
Just teasing! but I completely understand what you're saying. I am trying to make some calls today to see if there is any help anywhere.
It's funny tho, yesterday, a friend of mine asked me What kind of help are you looking for? I honestly don't know.
Months ago, I would have said help with her emotional issues
A year ago, I would have said help in school
2 years ago, I would have said help with her speech
4 years ago, I would have said help with her behaviours
6 years ago, I would have said help with her impulsiveness
8 years ago, I would have said help with her constant crying
But right this minute, this day, this week, I don't know! I want to know what services are available for her out there. I'm so used to getting it all done on my own (with the help of my fabulous hubby) that I'm not even sure what's out there!
