Well, I had conferences for both of the boys today. Tyler's went ok. He's wanting more attention, not listening, talking too much, etc.....typical boy stuff!!! UGH!!! But overall doing alright.
Nathan seems to be doing satisfactory. I don't know. It just didn't sit well with me. I was depressed afterwards. I don't know why. It's not like he's slipping, or just stopped learning or anything. I guess I just thought he'd be showing "more" improvement. But not so much. Slow and steady I guess. Academically, he's having problems understanding math (which I already knew). He's doing ok with reading, writing, and doing better with comprehension. The only thing he did excellent in, was knowing all his sight words. He's still having peer interaction issues. But I know that's not going to change real soon!!! He doesn't like it when someone touches his desk, his pencil....basically ANTHING THAT IS HIS!!! DO NOT TOUCH!!! LOL
His speech therapist is working with his "appropiateness"...because he's, well, very demanding when he wants something!! And she's been working with his social skills too. He seems to be doing well with this, but I still worry. Transitions are much better too, and he's not really needing the picture schedules as much as last year.
First grade just seems harder. So much more to learn. Last year he was able to keep up with the class. But not this year. The other kids are doing things that he just isn't able to do. Math, money, clock, graphs, and then there's the "reading program". This is where you read a book and then take a test on the computer. You gain points, and everyone has a goal to reach, and there are prizes involved. I'm lucky if he actually understands a story!!!! Let alone take a test on it!!
I know it's only Nov., but when I look at his goals....he isn't there yet. I know they have all year to work with him. But when you look at everything in writing....kinda hard to look at. It just shows how much more he has to learn.
