Hi! I don't know anything about dysgraphia, but I do know what you're going through in worrying about kindergarten. My dd Lily is starting her third year of special ed preschool in Sept and she is nowhere near ready for kindergarten. The thought of her having to sit still in a chair and write and draw things really scares me. She has problems drawing and tracing too. I don't know if it's because she just doesn't have any interest in it or if she really isn't capable. My oldest dd wasn't interested in writing her name before she started kindy, but she is completely NT so I knew that it was because she just didn't want to. But, she was able to focus on things and I knew she was capable of following rules and once she started kindy, she was writing her name,etc in no time. I try not to compare my children either, but it's really hard. I'm not looking forward to asking for a full time aide for Lily either. I'm like you, for the most part I've trusted her teachers and therapists and agreed to the services they've recommended. But, in kindergarten, I know she's going to have to learn things and that if she doesn't she won't be able to move up to the next grade. It's all so confusing, huh? I just keep hoping that Lily grows up A LOT in the next year and that by the time we have her next ARD meeting, I won't be quite as concerned as I am now. Wishful thinking, I guess. Anyway, you're not alone. Just remember that.

As for dysgraphia, poor fine motor is very common with kids with ASD. I don't know when it becomes dysgraphia as a separate thing or when it is just part of the ASD makeup. One hour a week can be pretty typical, however, there needs to be carry over of the skills. The OT should be consulting with the teacher and hopefully you on activities which will help and then works 1:1 and monitors 1x a week. Consultation and collaboration are key with kids. Even if she comes in 2-3 times a week it is the regular practice that is really going to make a difference and he is going to do most of his writing in the regular class. She can provide special materials and ideas to help.

hm, I need some time to really think on this one. actually I am doing alot of thinking on this as this is my exact job for next year. I am the teacher in charge of getting some ASD children ready to mainstream into kindie. I have some good ideas on how I want that to happen but not sure I got all of them yet. This may be something I update as the year goes on and I learn more and more.
