The day after - just plain weird

OK, he is still much quieter and not hyper but now he is just .....weird. He hasn't eaten barely anything in 2 days. He is spaced out and will NOT leave home. He was like this yesterday too but not to this extent other than the eating.
His respite person came tonight and I had her take him to the park but he wouldn't go so I had to go with them. It took 15 minutes to get him out of the house and then I was going to try and separate from him there. No go. And when I was there he just kept running so hard he was sweating profusely but we only got him to stay for 45 minutes.
It is all obsession with christmas stuff. Either his iPod, his magnetics, or one of his brothers things and he just can't separate from those activities at all. Not even to eat. We make him sit during the meal and he can't even eat when he is there.
Tomorrow we are going to the Wild Animal Park. We have been given tickets. Pray it doesn't rain, or maybe pray it does so we will be the only ones there. Either way we have to get him out of the house for an entire day to break the cycle and I have a feeling it isn't going to be a pretty visit there.
Anyone else dealing with weird day after stuff?

I guess I am not alone here. Here is what my son has ate since Christmas Eve:
Christmas eve- 1 donut, 1 piece of ham
Christmas day- 1/2 Poptart; 1/2 of a flour tortilla with cheese
Tuesday- Soft Pretzel, two bites of pizza, 5 crackers
Today- bowl of cereal, 1 jelly sandwich, two bites of soup, a few dry noodles
He is so consumed by his new stuff. He played Christmas day for 5 hours straight with one toy. We had just finally got to 40 only to drop down to 38. He is almost 7 years old and wears a size 4.
I wish I had his lack of appetite!
Mike is typically a VERY healthy (hearty appetite) eater to keep up with his energy and metabolism. THis is a kid who can put away 3 pbj sandwiches on whole wheat in one sitting. But he will go through phases when obsessed where he will completely forget to eat or not feel hunger when overstimulated, his blood sugar plummets and so does his behavior. We are back to having to make sure he eats at regular intervals or he has major behavior stuff which is another reason to go back to no sugar. I have noticed that when he has been having sugar all of a sudden food becomes an issue for him again.
He is extraordinarily picky in that he wants to eat the same things all the time and is very difficult over new things and it gets to be a big issue but he eats loads. I am lucky in that he has a wide variety he will eat and no sensory issues around it so it seems more autistic than sensory eating issue.
By picky I mean he HAS to have plain cherios every morning with milk. There are plenty of other breakfast cereals he likes and breakfast foods he will eat but if we run out of either plain cherios or milk there will be hell to pay.
Thankfully today his appetite appears to be back. This morning he ate 2 breakfasts (typical for him - 1 big bowl of plain cherios and then 2 slices homemade french toast), lunch was a 6in deli sanwich from subway and an apple, and dinner he had 2 burritos and a smoothie.
