I was soooo sick and tired of hearing about Star Wars this and Darg thingy that, (be 2 years this December), after I saw how thrilled Liam was with his bionicle McDonalds toy today I had the brilliant idea of getting him a couple of the new Bionicle yokeys.

This is one area where I bless Malcolm's PDD-NOS dx, as he does not seem to have obsessions. He is interested in Legos, cuz he builds things with his dad sometimes, and Star Wars and Harry Potter, cuz he watched movies and reads books, and Pokemon -- this interest is closer to an obsession and he shares this with his girlfriend and another best friend, but he is never stuck on any one interest or can't move on or stop playing when it's time to, doesn't demand lots of new toys often, etc. And NEVER are our conversations dominated by an interest.
Now, Malcolm has quite a few friends with obsessions. Malcolm has been very good at playing around and with them and their obsessions, only recently when a friend or 2 has been very overstressed and somewhat stuck on an obsession while on a playdate have I heard Malcolm verbally get tired of staying with the obsessions for a friend. 'Course, in the past he would just go play alone for awhile, "taking a break" as he called it, and now he is so much more desirous of constant engaged play. This is cool.
And he has never been interested in Bionicles at all. So I guess Amy and I are both dodging and fleeing the "Toa Tools", whatever THOSE are, together as fast as lightning. Good thing I always have my sneaks on...

Want me to send Josh over to help sort? He knows which bit came with which figurine - and shame on anyone that tries to mess them up!
We've avoided movies so far - they don't hold his attention anyway...But books and figures are always begged for.
