DHA is an essential fatty acid that is necessary for brain development. It is especially essential in the early years, from in utero to around age 5. After that the brain makes a subtle change and needs more EPA (another omega 3 essential fatty acid). The extra dha is no harm, but for our kids and children with mood-disorders the suggestion from many a developmental ped is the higher the EPA the better. I give LIam Nordic Naturals EPA, with aroun d 850 mg of EPA.
Any omega 3 is good omega 3, but in my opinion I'd look to getting Chris a legitimate omega 3 supplement, jmho.
I don't know if your son likes the taste of soy milk, or if you feel it is ok to use--many people feel ASD kids should avoid soy--and it is big on the allergen list also.
I don't know about DHA, but I picked up a carton of Horizon Organic milk (I think that was the brand) a few days ago. I put it down when I realized the expiration date was Oct 20th! I tried to find a reason for this and the only explanation I could see was that it was "ultra-pasteurized".
Hi lr :)
Can you explain what DHA is?

Lainie,
My family and I have been drinking Organic Valley ultra pasteurized milk for over one year and we think it tastes better than other milks.
