Your child started off with just a "few" things that pointed to AS, PDD, Autism, Or anything on the spectrum, and then got stronger and stronger as years went by?

This is my 10 yr old.

My 7 yr old show's the same signs of AS, but much milder.... but....

He shows much stronger signs of Tourettes.. with the copalia (sp?) and both motor and verbal tics daily. Its been bad. Eye blinking, lip licking, face grimaces (for years), cursing, punching himself in his head, punching at anything, making weird noises in a repetive motion....

In fact, I remember at the age of 6 months he did facial grimaces that were really strange, but I remember thing omg, how adorable....

This is all still a mystery to me.

But this all seemed to start out small you know, to where I would of never noticed anything different... And now its big.

YES! I think because as they get older there are a lot more expectations and more stress.

Yep I've noticed it too. As more is expected of them, the more things become noticeable.

Yep...like the previous posters said, mostly due to increased stress and expectations.

Ummm yeah, definitely with Mike. I would say to the extreme. They (the powers that be) keep telling me it is due to increased stress as he gets older, or because these signs were always there it is just more obvious as they get older, and finally puberty is to blame (and make sure ot keep an eye out for those bugaboo seizure things with ASD kids).

I don't know if it is one of those or all of them. I do know that Cait is the opposite. She was delayed as a tot and has continued to make steady progress with some set backs throughout her life. My therapist tells me this is more the typical development of an autistic person who is more able and doesn't have the anxiety/rigidity/sensory/behavioral stuff to go with.

Where as Mike's is who knows what but she says she has seen it with the more rigid/explosive type guys who blended in well as tots but struggles continue to increase as they get older.

I do know that he is the only child I know of in my circle of friends who has gone persistently down the spectrum with age from ADHD/sensory and possible PDD, to Aspergers to now autism.

I read your other thread. I'm sorry for whats happening to Mike.

I guess I had never heard of something like this starting out so light, and then progressing so much over the years. I mean Chris wasn't in preschool, but quite frankly, no one would of seen it then either.

But I also see the explanation of how over the years, things have gotten harder, and life gets more stressed as you get older and all. Kinda like the Dysgraphia, it has gotten harder for him each year without help because work gets harder.

BTW, Today was his last set of tests. I will have an answer in about two weeks.
