I am right there with you on that! I had a very difficult time relating to any of the parents I saw on the show except for going through the pain of getting a DX.
Our daughter was dx'd PDD-NOS a year ago and is 4 now and NOTHING AT ALL like the one boy they showed.
She holds conversations with us and peers and people all day long. She attends a typical preschool, she plays with typical peers, she does not have a single friend that is ASD (that I know of) We had a re-eval with our psychologist last week and was told "looks like she is working her way out of a DX." Personally, I think she never had any kind of Autism to begin with. She had behaviour that was definitely questionable but has outgrown it. And she has no social problems now whatsoever. She has no speech delays. She has delays with fine motor skills and some mild sensory issues, but so do a lot of kids. I have been through the ringer this past year with all of this, but I wouldn't change it. Maybe she would have gotten worse if we didn't do early intervention, I just don't know. I can't believe my daughter was diagnosed over a year ago and I still find this whole thing incredibly confusing.
For those of you who missed the episode, go to www.youtube.com and type in "autism the view" in the search box. You can watch the entire episode (in 4 segments). I just watched it and found it very interesting.

I don't really have ds story posted per say. It was a bad day so I don't feel like doing it now, sorry.
About the "still spectrumlike" behavior, maybe I don't see it because Kyle is my oldest and his little sister although not ASD still not NT either.
