Drs. Appt. tomorrow...wish us luck

Hi everyone,
I am not sure why I am so nervous. We have an appointment with Nick's developmental ped to go over the results of his AS evaluation and to talk about what's been going on with him. Basically a 4 month follow up after his initial ADHD dx in March. I was going to take the video camera with the clips of his rages, in case the dr. wants to see them. Thank God they have calmed down now with the clonidine. I also have a form for him to fill out so we can get him enrolled in an equitherapy program, he so wants to learn to horseback ride. That and a million questions. Thank God we got him the Leapster as that will keep him busy at least in the office...I will update you guys tomorrow when I get a chance!

Clonidine is a blood pressure medicine. It is prescribed off-label here as it was found to help control rages in some children. I am not sure exactly how it works, but it does. Nick has been on it now for almost a month and we went from having 3-4 rage attacks a week to 2 in the past month, and even the 2nd one was easier to bring him out of. Thats not to say he hasnt lost his temper, and believe me he does simmer, it just hasnt spilled over to those knock-down, drag-out, kicking, screaming, throwing things, moving furniture, having to restrain him tantrums he used to have. It seems to help his hyperactivity/impulsiveness slightly as well. We wanted to try that route before going with any of the mood disorder drugs, some of the side effects of those drugs can be scary! This is working really good for Nick so far.
