Hey guys,
wanted to let you all know what has been up for the last couple days and ask for prayers. Mike had an appendicitis and ended up at children's hospital friday evening. He was admitted finally around 5:30 am Saturday after spending the night in the ER and had surgery last night at 7pm. Children's is a very busy place iwth lots of traumas and since he was stable he kept getting pushed back.
The surgery went well in that his appendix had not ruptured and he pulled through fine, but it has been a very traumatic experience for him. He has been a real trooper though and is trying so hard. We have found that this level of pain mixed with sensory issues, mixed with off diet and supps for 2 days is not good for the wee dude. We are hoping he is released tomorrow but he spiked a temp fairly late this evening (8pm so far, I haven't had an update since) and he has to be 24 hours without a temp, ambulatory and off IV pain killers to go home. He only walked 2 of the 3 needed times today and those were horrible for him. And he is still on a high level of IV pain meds. It is hard to tell what is actually surgery pain, what is sensory based overstimulation and reaction, and what is plain old anxiety. Brought his weighted blanket down and made some sensory materials for him and I am going to ask for an OT referral again tomorrow. The OT wasn't there today. (Sunday)
DH is staying there tonight. Both of us stayed friday night and I stayed last night. We are taking shifts so we can get some sleep. The other kids have been with various family members and have been stressed too so I needed to come home and take care of them tonight and get them to school in the am. This is my first chance home since friday dinner time.
Say a prayer that tomorrow is a better day for the Mikester.
Renee

Oh, poor Mike! I'm real glad to hear his appendix didn't rupture, but still, what an ordeal this must be for him. And you!
I hope the hospital staff are being good to him, and that he's out of there real soon.
Sending prayers and healing vibes your way.
Evelyn
OMG, Renee,
our prayers and thoughts are certainly with you and Mike for a speedy recovery. I am so glad the appendix didn't rupture, one of my dearest friends almost didnt make it when his ruptured, and he had a very long recovery afterwards. Poor Mike, how tough.
And you and dh must be beyond exhausted. I cannot even imagine how hard this must all be for you all, poor babies. Strong light-filled thoughts, home soon!
xoxoxo,
Sara

Poor poor Mike,
My appendix went when I was 13 and remember it being no fun whatsoever and supposedly I'm NT, (don't buy it though!!;)
Wow - what an ordeal. Poor guy. Sending lots of P&PTs your way.

Hi Renee,
I hope today was a better day. Poor Mikey, he's had a hard year. I hate hospitals and am supposedly NT too. I am so impressed you are having the OT participate. I'll have to remember that for the future.
I hope he is home soon and that all your other kiddos can feel calmer with him home.
Hugs and prayers,
Katherine
