Dh was planning on taking dd to the Circus for her birthday. Ds has never liked the circus and had no intrest in going so the two of us were going to stay home. I never liked the circus as a kid either so I was happy with the plan. At the last minute ds jumps up from playing dd's barbie computer game (lol) and says he wants to go. My jaw was hanging open. Dh said if Kyle was going I should too. I actually enjoyed it, for the most part, lol. Kyle said it was fun and he was really glad he decided to go. I was very surprised. We were in a building right next to the racetrack with a race going on. It was really loud. The circus was really loud. It smelled like moth balls although I think it was really the plastic toys I was smelling. People were smoking and then there were the animal smells. Don't forget the flashing lights. He didn't complain once. I think I was the one most bothered by all that sensory stuff. Unbelievable! Its been a great week.
Still stunned, Samantha

They are surprising.....never know what is going to happen next. DS saw advertisements for the circus (last fall) and begged to go. I have never liked the circus (except Cirque de Solie) so I had no interest in going. My parents took him. I thought it would be sensory overload but I guess he loved it. At one point, he turned to my mom and said, "this IS the greatest show on earth!"
Go figure.....

Samantha,
That's wonderful!!! I'm glad you all had a nice time! I know that for Nathan, if we do something that HE really wants to do, he does really well. Even though there's so much sensory stuff going on around him, he seems to handle things really great!! For some reason he's just able to deal and shut things out!! I'm glad Kyle had a great time!
