This AM my DH dropped the boys at school (like 1st time ever) and I took Emily to the orthodontist. When I drove past the school a bit later (just prior to 1st bell) there were fire trucks, police everywhere. Then I saw Mike's aides car crashed through electrical lines and into the kindergarten play yard fence. It looked like the police were looking UNDER the car at something. I thought a child was trapped and naturally I had never seen my boys go into school today. Then I saw a backpack out on the hood of the car that looked like one of my kids. Can you say HEART ATTACK. She had crashed in a major walkway of where the kids go, thus my concern.
So I parked and went to make sure all my kids were in school and they were. Fortunately the only one hurt was the aide and seems like minor injuries is all. She crashed early enough before school that none of the safeties were out and it wasn't busy yet. Just went to the hospital to be checked. Knocked all the electricity out at the school for a few hours though.
I was so proud of Mike though. He is so sensitive to those kinds of things and naturally he didn't have an aide with him today. I checked in to see if he wanted me to stay for him and he wanted to try it on his own. He did fine. I was very proud of him. Amazing how they do shine when we need them too.
Still haven't heard what happened though. All I can figure is because there were no safeties a kid may have darted out to cross the street and she swerved to miss.

WOW! Thank goodness no one was seriously injured. That's something Victor would have come home and told me everything that happened telling me how "cool" it was. He still has trouble sometimes understanding that those things could be very serious. All he would get was that no one was hurt this time.
I'm so proud of Mike tho for going it alone. That's one great kid you've got there.
Oh, btw.. we didn't do e-mail last week because of science fair, but Vic did write Mike back :)

That is sooooo scary Renee! I would of fallen apart between parking the car and running to the scene....
I am so glad it all worked out, and that Mike's aid is okay, with nothing serious happening.
Wow! It kind of makes you believe in guardian angels, doesn't it?! I am so glad no one was too seriously hurt. And way to go Mike! He really sounds like a great kid, Renee. But you know that!

I still don't know what happened but the aide wasn't in school today either. Things have been crazy and I haven't gotten a return email about it. Mike's teacher has been swamped and I didn't want to ask about it in front of the kids.
However, the aide wasn't in school again today. She missed 3 days about a week ago too. It is starting to have an effect on Mike and his behavior wasn't it's best today in school but not horrible. But stuff is not getting written in his planner and other homework is not being sent home. Kelly had all that stuff organized for Mike and made sure he always got everything she explained everything. Today the other classroom aides took turns up in mainstream with him but I know it can't go on for long term like that because they are needed in class.
Well, we shall see.
