I would not make a big deal of it. He will get it when he gets it, and he needs your reassurance and support. He is probably pretty disappointed himself, and may already sense yours anyways --- maybe there was extra stress this past week? Stress makes it harder to feel when to go, our kids are not lazy, just often more disconnected and pottying is very tough for them to get.

I say keep on keeping on, reinforce that he will learn when he is ready, he is so close, any day now, and leave it at that. Lots of loving him up and compliments and looking forward to mastering this soon. You are likely right that he is close. Pottying is NEVER on your schedule, always on theirs!

When Malcolm was 4 and I was pressuring him, he informed me that HE wasn't planning on getting it until he was 6 years old!!! Then a few months later, he pulled the timeline back to 5, then he got it ... while still 4. Guess he told me!!!

Good luck, relax, he is learning! Any day, week or month now...

Try not to get discouraged. I wouldn't make a big deal of it and just continue to encourage and reinforce, like Sara said. Eric has gone back to wetting his bed at night, after months of being dry, but I am not making a big deal of it. During the day, sometimes Eric has to still race to get to the potty to pee and we have minor "leakage." But as long as they are trying, I think it is ok. I know it is harder for our kids.

Potty training has been one of the hardest things to do for us too. We've were at it for over a year before it all came together. Our neuro said many of our kids aren't developmentally ready until they are 5, so Bobby is doing fine. Great that he is still bm'ing in the potty. That was our biggest hurdle of all!

Hang in there. I know it gets tiring to do so much laundry!
