Well what a fat waste of time. After EI showed up at the wrong address yesterday and never bothered to call me, I ended up calling them an hour after the set appt; apparently they were directly across he street and left their card in the door of the quiet and reclusive gay couple there, lol. When I saw the card in their door I left it there; figured it'd give them a chuckle.
So EI arrives today at the right time and correct address. Well after reams of questions and my calling them due to Roan's sensory seeking, not sleeping and finally the Charlie Chaplin walk, she qualifies for an eval for speech and fine motor....WTF???!! Her speech is great and she colors better than either boy did a year from now. they didn't even look at her walking. I was so peeved I almost refused the speech eval, but then thought better of it. An eval won't hurt I suppose. What I wanted was PT and sensory OT evals, but I got nada.
I'm hoping the new ped can listen to me and take me seriously about the sleeping; we'll do a private PT eval if necessary.
Man, what a frustrating morning....reminds me of getting Liam evauated all over again.

Doing the right thing is just never easy, is it?!?!?!
Thinking of you, keep plugging away, girl, I feel for you getting no sleep, that bites. C'mon, Roan, go sleepy-byes, OK?

Dee, I know it's not what you wanted or expected but right now just getting your foot in the door is a start.

Dee,
Aw, man. But its not over til it's over, right? If that was the "final" decision on what evaluations are done, then there must be an appeal process.
In my area, there is always a psych eval first with EI and CPSE. The psych is the "gatekeeper" for the evals that are needed after him/her. The psych usually announces what is needed as if it were final, but it is really a team decision.
The Charlie Chaplin thing is probably REALLY cute. But geez, let's get a PT in on this! You shouldn't have to do it privately. (But it may be a good idea to do it privately in case the PT is trained to tell everyone to wait and see.)

In the therapy world, sometimes the recommendation of other therapists gets you in the door.
