I don't have any great advice for you (sorry), but I will say that we are going through some potty-training regression with our youngest dd, Lily, right now. She is still potty trained during the day, but for the last 2 months, she is unable to hold it all night anymore. She took awhile being able to hold it all night and we were so excited when she finally did. Now after a year of waking up dry, she is waking up soaking wet most mornings. We had to put her back in pull-ups and I know that is bothering her. We took her to the ped thinking that maybe she had a bladder infection, but she didn't. Basically, the ped said not to worry about it too much because children her age (she's 5 yrs.) sometimes go through potty-training regressions due to stress or sleeping pattern changes. Like your son, Lily has been learning new skills lately and showing other improvements, so we're wondering if maybe the extra stress is causing this regression. I know how frustrated you must be to have gone through the whole potty-training process just to end up back where you started. I wish I had some advice for you. Hopefully there are some others on the board who can give you some insight into why this is happening. I hope things improve soon!

I agree with the PP. In addition to stress and sleep disruption, growth spurts can cause potty training regression. My AS kids never experienced it, but my 4yo NT dd would be dry for months and then suddenly have several days of wetting herself constantly throughout the day. She'd be like that for several days, and then she'd be dry again for several months. I figure if it affects my NT dd that much, it's gotta be that much harder for an AS child who has sensory deficits.

Also, with the sitting to pee, I don't know whether it's the same with boys as with girls, but our urologist had my 13yo AS dd lean forward when urinating, to put pressure on the bladder to more effectively empty it.

Hopefully this is just a temporary set-back due to all your ds positive growth recently!
