Euan MADE HIMSELF A SANDWICH

I just watched, open mouthed, as Euan went to the fridge, got out bread, butter and ham, and made himself a sandwich. This must have involved a) feeling hunger b) KNOWING it was hunger c) knowing what to do about it and d) actually doing it, himself. Usually he waits until he is starving then appears at my elbow screaming for food.

The only way it could have been better is if he could have noticed, somehow, that I was actually cooking dinner at the time, and if he'd waited 5 minutes, he'd wouldn't have had to get it himself :-)

But still, this is actually quite a huge achievement. I can now possibly envisage him leaving home at some point and not starving to death.

He ALSO made it to an after-school club ON HIS OWN, noticed there were two friends there from another club, and asked me if he could invite them to his party. This is a *huge* breakthrough on the social skills front. Maybe in addition to not starving to death, he might actually notice other people and be able to make contact with them without someone prompting him.

I honestly feel like he's won the Nobel prize, or something, I am so ridiculously proud of him.

I love it! That's great.

I know a bit of how you feel... if my son didn't have a lunch time this summer, set by us, I'm not sure if he would have eaten...

Go Euan! :)
